Duffy will not run with Cuomo in November

Rick Karlin is reporting at Capitol Confidential New York Lt. Gov. Bob Duffy has notified Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo that he will not be running with the governor in November. Duffy will serve out his current term. In his formal letter to Cuomo, Duffy cited the major factor in his decision was the constant traveling required by the position. Duffy noted the thousands of miles he traveled each week has taken a physical toll with the result being constant back and leg pain. While he said Cuomo offered to help him reduce his travel schedule, Duffy said that would amount to operating at a reduced level. Speaking to the Democrat and Chronicle of Rochester, Duffy was quoted as describing his relationship with the governor as very positive.
