Sarah Trafton is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media a new Stewart’s Shop located on the corner of West Main and West Bridge streets in the village of Catskill is expected to open in two weeks. A construction mishap in September put the project two months behind schedule, but the store is scheduled to open December 16, Stewart’s spokeswoman Erica Komoroske said. The accident caused a large portion of the structure to collapse, trapping a worker who sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The original contractors were replaced, Komoroske said, citing a failure of the building’s trusses as the cause of the collapse. “We’re excited to open the store and we’re excited that we were able to do it in 2020,” Komoroske said. The Catskill location is part of the company's $45 million expansion project. “We will have built five new shops and rebuilt 12 shops by the end of the year,” she said. The grand opening will be held sometime in January. Village Code Enforcement Officer Micheal Ragaini said he will likely inspect the store next week. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
