List of NY cos. infrastructure projects sent to D.C.

Nick Reisman is reporting for State of Politics a list of $7.35 billion worth of infrastructure projects from various New York county governments has been forwarded to President Donald Trump and top Congressional lawmakers in Congress. The effort, if successful, is intended to boost the economy through an investment in improvement efforts statewide. The project list and letter were compiled by the New York State Association of Counties, which listed proposals in 40 different counties including Albany, Greene and Ulster counties. The total infrastructure project costs listed for Greene County were $159,130,000. NYSAC estimates there is more than $10.8 billion in infrastructure funding needed in New York. NYSAC President John F. Marren said, “It is in this spirit of renewal that we presented these project recommendations to our federal partners. These projects represent a significant opportunity to jumpstart our economy, add construction and trade jobs to our workforce, and strengthen our infrastructure for the next generation of Americans.” Officials hope the infrastructure investment would help an economy battered by the coronavirus pandemic as unemployment in New York last month remained above 14 percent. Read the full story at nystateofpolitics [dot] com.
