Rick Karlin reports in Capitol Confidential that Gov. Andrew Cuomo is keeping up his efforts to promote New York as a radio-controlled drone state with the second annual film competition for the unmanned aircraft. He's calling the part of Central New York and the Mohawk Valley along Interstate 90 the Drone Corridor, where companies are building and testing drones. So the New York State Fair now holds a film festival for camera-equipped drone operators. “We are building the unmanned aerial vehicle industry from the ground up in Upstate New York, with the goal of becoming a global hub in drone research and development,” Cuomo said. “This film festival and competition highlights our investment and draws attention to the amazing work being done with drones, while continuing the economic growth seen in Central New York.” There are many categories to enter, and a small cash prize with a screening at the state fair in August. June 30 is the deadline for entries at https://filmfreeway.com/NYSFairDroneFilmFestival.
