Susan Fullerton channels poet Emily Dickinson in the one-woman play "The Belle of Amherst," presented by Taconic Stage Co. at the beautiful gothic revival church St. John in the Wilderness. The show is set in Dickinson's Amherst, Massachusetts home, and uses her poems, diaries, and letters to recollect her encounters with the significant people in her life. It balances the agony of her seclusion with the brief, bright moments when she was able to experience some joy.
