Jim McCabe has been a volunteer with WGXC since he first heard about the station in the Fall of 2009. He DJ’d at the new year’s eve fundraiser that year and he has hosted the monthly music program “The Tiki Bar” since December 2010.

Jim’s love of music dates back to his childhood in central New Jersey, having spent many hours playing his oldest sister’s Beatles and Beach Boys 45s and listening to top 40 on WABC and oldies on WCBS-FM. When his uncle gave him a cassette tape recorder as a gift, his fate as a future programmer was sealed.

Jim got his start in radio at WWCU / WCUA, Catholic University, in Washington, DC, where he also DJ’d at the campus rathskellar. He has a special fondness for those salad days for it was on the air where he met a fellow programmer who became the love of his life.

A resident of Claverack, NY since 2002, Jim splits his time between Columbia County and New York City.
