Jun 21, 2012 8:30 am
Scenic Hudson has acquired 148 acres in Greenport, directly adjacent to the Hudson South Bay, as part of the organization's ongoing Saving the Land That Matters Most campaign. According to statement released Tues., June 19, the property acquired included 4,200 feet of shoreline along South Bay Creek, which flows into the Hudson River through the South Bay. Nearly 50 acres of the property contain USDA Prime Farmland and Soils of Statewide Significance, according to Scenic Hudson. A large portion of the property is visible from the Olana State Historic Site. Scenic Hudson's Save the Land campaign was launched in 2007, and has resulted in the conservation of nearly 6,300 acres of land in the Hudson Valley. Read the full press release at scenichudson.org.
