Chris Bragg reports in Capitol Confidential that Assemblyperson Chris Tague, a Republican just elected in a special election, wants answers from Gov. Andrew Cuomo about a major campaign contributor, Crystal Run Healthcare. Tague represents Greene and Schoharie counties, and parts of Columbia County, and wants to know more about the $400,000 in campaign cash Cuomo received from the company that the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office is investigating. Cuomo’s campaign and Crystal Run have been refusing to answer questions about the a 2013 fundraiser where Cuomo received 10 donations of $25,000 from Crystal Run officials or their spouses. Company employees got grand jury subpoenas earlier this year about the donations. “This is exactly what I’ve been talking about in terms of corruption in Albany,” Tague said in a May 25 press release. “Accountability, which seems to be totally lacking in this administration. The money trail for Crystal Run reeks of favoritism and the governor dodging every question regarding it just kicks up a larger smoke cloud around it and you know the old saying, where there’s smoke there’s fire."
