The Times Union has announced it is launching a new weekly publication, Local First, that focuses on local news and shopping and will include stories and announcements from each area. The paper is funded by Capital Region advertisers. Content will be generated from community staff with some additional content from the Times Union. The six editions of the weekly publication will be mailed every Thursday, directly to consumers, with sales inserts, in these areas: Clifton Park, Northern Saratoga County, Southern Saratoga County, Rensselaer County, Latham/Colonie/Delmar, and Corinth. The Advertiser in Rensselaer County will keep its name. "We're very excited about our new product...," said Todd J. Peterson, the publisher of Local First. "These are wonderful vehicles for busy families who want to make sure they are up to date with what's going on in their communities. Local First will launch with a circulation of 188,000, and will be printed locally at the Times Union. Read the full story in the Times Union.
