Snow, freezing rain on tap for region

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for winter weather in eastern New York and western New England, beginning 10 a.m. Mon., Jan. 28. The advisory will remain in effect until 7 a.m., Tuesday. The NWS is predicting snow, freezing rain, freezing drizzle and sleet. Up to four inches of snow and a tenth of an inch of ice are expected. The snow will begin Monday morning, changing to freezing rain and sleet during the late afternoon and evening. Temperatures will rise from the teens Monday morning to the low 30s by Tuesday. The weather is expected to cause slippery roads and limited visability.
