Simone Pathé is reporting for Roll Call U.S. Rep. John Faso has been named to the paper's list of the 10 most vulnerable House incumbents in 2018. The list of those most unlikely to return to Congress in 2019 includes eight Republicans and two Democrats. GOP strategists admit that if they can’t pass a tax overhaul, more Republicans will be in trouble because the party risks lower turnout from a disappointed base. Faso is number three on the list. Pathé writes that the Kinderhook Republican might not look vulnerable given that the 19th Congressional District went for Donald Trump by seven points last year, but Democrats are motivated and poised to field a candidate with local roots. The paper declares that Pat Ryan and Antonio Delgado are the top candidates in the field, noting that both outraised Faso during the third fundraising quarter this year. Other vulnerable House members include Darrell Issa [EYE-sah], Republican of California, Claudia Tenney, the Republican representing New York's 22nd Congressional District and Tom O'Halleran, Democrat of Arizona. • On Nov. 6, Rep. John Faso released a statement about the mass shooting in Texas Nov. 5, where an American terrorist used an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle. "The senseless and horrific tragedy in Texas over the weekend is heartbreaking. I am hopeful that the ongoing investigation will lead to answers as to why this individual chose to destroy so many lives and families and we will learn what more can be done to help prevent such tragedies. My heart goes out to the victims and their families," Faso said.

Richard Moody in Columbia-Greene Media reports that on Nov. 3 the House of Representatives passed a bill to replace the lapsed Children’s Health Insurance Program that expired in September. The new bill is called the Community Health And Medical Professionals Improve Our Nation Act, and Democrats, who mostly voted against it, say that it would pay for children’s health insurance by taking money away from a preventive care fund. The bill passed 242-174, including a yes vote from Rep. John Faso (R-Kinderhook). “It was critical that the House pass legislation to reauthorize CHIP before the funding runs out in the coming months, and this legislation not only does that, but makes other important improvements,” said Faso. “Notably, the legislation authorizes robust support for community health centers, which provide critical medical services throughout upstate New York.”

Rep. John Faso (R-Kinderhook) was on MSNBC Nov. 9 to discuss the GOP tax plan.
