GOP taps Serino for Assembly, Blasl for Coroner

John Mason is reporting in the Chatham Courier the Columbia County Republican Committee this week nominated candidates for Assembly and county Coroner. Dutchess County real estate agent and Fourth District Legislator Sue Serino was chosen to challenge incumbent Didi Barrett of Hudson, and Chatham funeral home director Michael Blasl will oppose county Coroner Roberta Davis in the November general election. The GOP also endorsed incumbents Chris Gibson for Congress, Kathleen Marchione for the state Senate, Steve McLaughlin for Assembly and Holly Tanner for county Clerk. Serino was unanimously chosen over Copake Committee member Terry Sullivan. Chairman Greg Fingar said the committee believed Serino had a greater chance of being elected, noting she has conservative values in line with the Republican and Conservative parties.
