Apr 16, 2020 9:15 am
The Times Union is reporting The Daily Star, the Oneonta-based daily newspaper announced April 13, it is going from a six- to five-day publication in its print and online editions, effective next week. The paper cited as the reason a substantial drop in advertising sales revenue stemming from business shutdowns resulting from the coronavirus pandemic. “I believe this is going to be a permanent change,” Editor Deneille Cazzolla said. The 130-year old paper covers rural Otsego, Delaware, Chenango and Schoharie counties. It will now publish on Tuesday through Saturday. It had been on a Monday through Saturday schedule. Publisher Fred Scheller said, “The Daily Star is not going anywhere,” adding no further reductions are planned. The Daily Star is part of Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. which owns several other newspapers in New York including those in Niagara Falls and Plattsburgh. Read the full story in the Times Union.
