Cuomo signs bill authorizing cameras on school buses

Nick Reisman is reporting for the State of Politics blog Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo August 6 signed into law a bill to create a statewide program to crackdown on those who pass stopped school buses. The measure will allow school districts to install mounted cameras on the arms of school bus stop signs to photograph drivers who pass buses when students are getting off and on. In a single day of enforcement in April 2018, law enforcement officials ticketed more than 850 people for speeding pass a stopped school bus, according to Reisman.
