Charges lead to concerns about CCSD election

Jim Planck is reporting in The Daily Mail an alleged fraud has cast a pall on the recent Catskill Central Board of Education election. Failed board candidate Michael J. Lanuto Jr. expressed concerns about the legitimacy of the reported outcome after learning a person allegedly impersonated a registered voter and successfully cast a ballot as part of the annual board election and budget vote, May 20. Benjamen Hodzic of Catskill, was arrested and charged with forgery and criminal impersonation the day following the vote. On his Facebook page, Lanuto said that while an arrest has been made, the integrity of the voting system has been tarnished. Catskill Superintendent Dr. Kathleen Farrell told the paper the district reported the matter to village police immediately.
