Nora Mishanec from Columbia-Greene Media reports that state police say no law was broken when a Kinderhook couple waved a gun at protesters on July 11. “The gun in possession of the homeowners was legally possessed and the incident, which was captured on video obtained by police, did not reveal any violation of law,” state police said in a statement. Kinderhook Mayor James Dunham said July 17 that police extensively interviewed neighbors of the still-unnamed couple who live on Rothermel Lane. The incident went viral on the internet last week when Hudson Mayor Kamal Johnson posted two videos online about the what he witnessed. Johnson, who is African-American, said he believed he would have been put in handcuffs and arrested if he waved a gun at a large crowd. Instead, this couple left with police 40 minutes after the incident, without being placed in handcuffs. Read more about this story at hudsonvalley360.com.
