Kate Lisa is reporting for Capital Region Independent Media the village of Ravena's annual end-of-the-summer celebration will not be held this year. Instead, village will join with VFW Post No. 9594 to host the Village and Veterans Fall Fest on Sept. 28. The festival will take place at Mosher Park, beginning with food, games, music and other family-friendly activities in the afternoon, and end with fireworks that night. Times and other details will be announced at a later date. The Friendship Festival is traditional held on the last Saturday of August, but this year it falls on Labor Day weekend. “This has happened in the past,” Ravena Mayor William Misuraca said in a statement. “The very low turnout that [year] was a result of this conflict [and] was not fair for vendors and residents alike.” Misuraca said other factors in the decision to postpone was a lack of volunteers and the loss of the festival coordinator, who stepped down for work-related reasons. The mayor said a bigger, better Friendship Festival will return in 2020. “Next year, we have some big stuff in the works for the Friendship Festival that will knock your socks off, guaranteed! But, we desperately need volunteers if anyone wants to help,” he said. Read the full story at RavenaNews [dot] com.
