Jimmy Vielkind is reporting for Politico New York upstate CBS affiliate, WRGB, has rejected an equal time request by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand's Republican challenger. Chele Chiavacci Farley asked for the time following the Democratic senator's recent appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” because she believes it counted as a news interview. During a 10-minute segment, Colbert and Gillibrand discussed sexual harassment, her evolution on gun control and what she had given up for Lent. Barry Faber, the general counsel for the Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns WRGB, rejected the Farley campaign’s request. Federal law specifies that U.S. radio and television stations must provide an equivalent opportunity to any opposing political candidates who request it. Read the full story at Politico New York.
