Without him, Gibson thinks GOP can win New York

May 03, 2016 10:45 am
Matthew Hamilton in Capitol Confidential reports that Kinderhook Republican Chris Gibson said Republicans can still win the governor's office in 2018, even if he isn't running. In his first interview, with Time Warner Cable, after announcing he was ending his exploratory campaign on May 2, Gibson said Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino (the 2014 gubernatorial candidate), Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, businessman Harry Wilson (the 2010 comptroller candidate) and John Cahill (the 2014 attorney general candidate) could beat Andrew Cuomo. Gibson also said he wrote-in Maryland Governor Larry Hogan in the New York Republican presidential primary election a few weeks ago, and, about, probable nominee Donald Trump, he says, "I'm a Christian who believes that people can evolve." Read the full story in Capitol Confidential, a Times-Union blog. Gibson will be a live guest on "All Together Now!" at 6 p.m. May 5 on WGXC (90.7-FM), with Parry Teasdale from The Columbia Paper asking questions.
