In email, but not in person, Faso criticizes Trump for reaction to Virginia violence

Ariél Zangla reports in The Daily Freeman that speaking to the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce Aug. 16 Rep. John Faso (R-Kinderhook) denounced racism, but did not mention President Donald Trump's claim that both sides were responsible for the violence in Charlottesville, Va., last weekend. But later, in an email, Faso wrote, “I unequivocally disagree with the president’s statements yesterday. Neo-Nazis and other hate groups have to be called out for what they are without attempting to draw some type of moral equivalence with others.” The president said that many of the people who showed up to protest Nazis and white supremacists were also to blame for the violence.
