Assembly member re-introduces parole bill
Dec 07, 2016 6:15 am
Matthew Hamilton is reporting at Capitol Confidential a Bronx assembly member will re-introduce legislation next session that would require the state Parole Board to detail demographic information in its annual report about the individuals considered for parole. The same legislation was approved by the Assembly multiple times in the past, but died in Senate committee each time. The announcement came as Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo ordered an investigation into alleged racial bias in the state prison system and in parole decisions following a report on such bias by The New York Times. The Parole Board already is required by law to issue an annual report to the governor and Legislature. Read the full story at Capitol Confidential.
