Durham approves new subdivisions
Maura Rosner reports for Columbia-Greene Media that new housing may be coming to Durham as the Durham Town Board approved several new subdivisions. Town Supervisor Shawn Marriott and council members Joan Breslin, Lisa Cirillo and Ed Kerrigan have voted in favor of four new subdivisions in the town. The entire Hudson Valley is in an affordable housing crisis, as longtime residents are being forced out because they cannot afford the rising costs of renting an apartment or purchasing a home. Many wealthy New York City residents moved north during the COVID-19 pandemic, driving up prices. In April the Durham Town Board also gave preliminary approval for a 12-home subdivision on 95 acres in the hamlet of Cornwallville. Read more about this story at HudsonValley360.com.
