The Village of Chatham became the latest municipality to shut down its building and move back to all-online meetings, after the Town of Nassau and Columbia County earlier shut down their buildings to the public. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is perhaps the only bright spot among local institutions, with 80,000 tests since Aug. 1, and only 17 positive out of about 4,200 on campus this fall. As COVID-19 cases surge again in the Capital Region, the university's twice-weekly testing of all students is credited with keeping the infection rate on campus below one percent for any two-week period.
