Ryan running for Ulster County Exec; Rhodes, Auerbach might also

Paul Kirby reports in The Daily Freeman that Paul Ryan, one of the six Democrats who ran, and failed to win the Democratic nomination for the 19th Congressional District last year, now wants to run for Ulster County Executive. Gov. Andrew Cuomo just made current County Executive Michael Hein commissioner of the state Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, after holding the Ulster County job for ten years. Ryan, of Gardiner, announced Jan. 5 that he would seek the executive's post. Another Democrat who ran in that Congressional primary, Gareth Rhodes of Kerhonkson, is also considering running for the job. Current Ulster County Comptroller Elliott Auerbach, also a Democrat, said he will announce if he is running for executive later this week. Read the full story in The Daily Freeman.
