New York State Senator George Amedore reports that AT&T collected more than 1,800 used cell phones and mobile devices in a "Cell Phones For Soldiers" program the past month. Proceeds from the recycled devices will buy long distance calling cards for troops abroad and veterans at home. Amedore says the program turns a donated phone valued at just $5 into 2.5 hours of free talk time for troops and veterans using the calling cards.
