Andrea Macko is reporting for Porcupine Soup the Capital District YMCA announced this week the Greene County club in Coxsackie will reopen Mon., Apr. 5. “From installing special Merv 13 filters in all of our open branches to regularly conducting deep cleaning, we’re working together to ensure that your time at the Y is as safe as possible,” the YMCA said in a statement. The club will be open Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to noon, and again from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Staff will use the hours from noon until 4 p.m. to deep clean the space and the equipment, so the club will be closed to the public during that time. Saturday hours will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.; the club will be closed on Sunday. “It is totally understandable that people have been frustrated,” said Erin Breslin, senior director of marketing and membership for the Capital District YMCA. Beginning in March of 2020, a state executive order effectively closed all non-essential businesses, including gyms and fitness centers, due to the coronavirus pandemic. For more information members are urged to visit the Capital District YMCA website at CDYMCA [dot] org. Members are asked to confirm their membership is active, sign a new code of conduct and make a reservation 72 hours in advance. Read the full story in Porcupine Soup.
