Jul 10, 2019 1:30 pm
Sarah Trafton is reporting for Columbia-Greene former Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Braden is back in the news. An employee of the Coeymans Police Department since April 2018, and the School Resource Officer assigned to the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Middle School, Braden was recently reassigned by the department after school officials learned the details of his employment history. In 2016, Braden pleaded guilty to a charge of official misconduct and resigned from the Sheriff's office after serving 10 years as deputy. “Information about Officer Braden’s issues while working for a previous department were brought to the district’s attention during the last weeks of school,” according to a statement issued by school officials. "Although the district is satisfied with Officer Braden’s work as SRO, the Coeymans PD has informed the district that they decided to reassign him in order to further develop their K9 program.” For some residents the question is what Coeyman police officials knew and when they knew it. Chief Daniel Contento maintains that Braden was fully vetted and denied there was any record of a misdemeanor charge. However, Cairo Town Court records document Braden's guilty plea. He subsequently worked for the Cairo Police Department for two years before moving to Albany County. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
