New York is 12th most educated state

New York is the 12th most educated state in the U.S., according to a recently released report from personal finance website WalletHub. The study examined key factors: educational attainment, school quality and achievement gaps between genders and races, comparing all 50 states across 20 total metrics grouped into two categories. New York ranked 5th in the percentage of graduate or professional degree holders statewide, and for average university quality. The state also ranked 9th in the percent of bachelor degree holders. New York also came in 23rd for the racial gap in educational attainment statewide. The top five most educated states in 2019 are Massachusetts, Maryland, Vermont, Connecticut and Colorado. The bottom five, based on residents' educational attainment and the quality of the education provided, are: Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, West Virginia and Mississippi.
