Cairo Planning Board approves Country Club Estates for a second time
Kaitlin Lembo is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media the Cairo Planning Board has approved a proposal to build Country Club Estates, a 35-unit townhouse neighborhood, on Bald Hills Road. The two-bedroom townhouses will measure more than 1,200 square feet and include a one-car garage. Planning Board Chairman Joseph Hasenkopf said the developer must break ground on the project, or make significant strides toward completion of the project, within two years or run the risk of losing its permit. The same project was approved in January 2012, but funding was lost shortly thereafter and permission to begin construction expired in 2013. Project representative Pete Maassmann said the development plan remains essentially the same as the original. Hasenkopf and the board raised questions about various parts of the project, including the water supply, planned trash disposal and lighting. It is unknown when the project will break ground.
