City announces DRI implementation process is underway

Oct 24, 2018 12:15 pm
Hudson Mayor Rick Rector announced October 23, city officials have begun the process for implementing the Downtown Revitalization Initiative: they are forming a committee. According to a statement at the city's website, after consulting with various state officials, the city has "created a plan that will allow for the successful completion of the city-awarded DRI projects in a transparent and timely manner," the mayor writes.  In August, Hudson was awarded a $10 million DRI grant to identify downtown projects for revitalization and development in an effort to boost the local economy. According to Rector's statement Tuesday, a DRI committee has been formed, consisting of Rector, Common Council President Tom DePietro, City Treasurer Heather Campbell, Superintendent of Public Works Rob Perry, Planning Board Chair Walter Chatham and City of Hudson Corporate Counsel Andrew Howard. The group will meet weekly to "oversee, review, and work with a to-be-hired DRI Manager for the implementation of all City DRI projects." In addition, the DRI Committee is exploring "a DRI Implementation Review Committee that will meet regularly for reviewing and updating the public on the progress of all projects" in the city. And the official search for the DRI Manager position is on. The city is looking for firms or qualified individuals with project and grant management services experience and expertise to serve in the position for a two- or three-year period. Proposals are must be submitted by noon, November 30. Read the full announcement at City of Hudson [dot] org.
