Stewart's Shops wants to tear down Catskill building for new store

Jan 08, 2020 12:21 am
Sarah Trafton reports for Columbia-Greene Media that Stewart's Shops are planning to go before the Catskill Village Planning Board to take over a building on W. Bridge St. near the Catskill Creek. Mountain T-Shirts currently occupies the brick building that the Stewart's Shops chain wants to tear down to put in a new store. “This will be a good project for the village and the planning board to take on,” Village Planning Board Chairman Patrick McCulloch said. But McCulloch is less certain about Taco Bell moving into Catskill. The fast-food chain was reportedly putting a restaurant near Beer World, on Route 9W. But, “We haven’t heard anything back since we sent them to the zoning board early last year,” McCulloch said. The planning board sent them to the zoning board to get a variance, as they were asking for a sign too large by town rules. Read more about this story at HudsonValley360.com.
