The Bauls are mystical folk musicians and dancers from Bangladesh and the neighboring Indian States of West Bengal, Tripura and Assam. Drawing on both Vaishnava Hindu and Sufi Muslim traditions they seek ultimately to bond with the eternal beloved, the Moner Manush, who lives in the heart. They use their music and dance to accomplish this.
