Rescue squad making plans to build new station

Jun 24, 2021 5:30 am

Andrea Macko is reporting for Porcupine SoupTed Nugent, president of Greenville Rescue Squad, Inc. attended the Greenville Town Board meeting June 21, to talk about plans to build a new station. The new headquarters would be located on two acres on State Route 81, just east of County Route 41. The property was purchased from the Greenville Fire District for $10,000, and the estimated cost of construction would be $500,000. The station would include a house for the crew and an 80-by-80-foot garage, Nugent said. The garage would have multiple bays for ambulances and the fly car, as well as storage space. The paid rescue squad now operates 24/7 and so far this year it has responded to about 200 calls. Nugent noted the squad would finance the project on its own, but it is hoping the town board will exempt the organization from zoning codes, something that can be done in New York state for certain applicants, including emergency services, Nugent said. The squad is expected to formally present the project at the July 19 Greenville town board meeting. Read the full story at porcupinesoup [dot] com.
