Republican Bruce Blakeman, who has been mulling a potential challenge to Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand since last fall, confirmed that he will indeed formally announce his candidacy this Sunday.... "I will confirm that I'm announcing my candidacy for the United States Senate seat. I am doing so at my boyhood home of Valley Stream, and it will be an announcement and a rally. I will make a speech outlining what I feel are the important issues facing the state and the country as well as explaining why I'm running."
