Robert Cairns in The Watershed Post reports that the Delaware County Board of Supervisors voted for a hotel and motel occupancy tax on Nov. 24. The tax may raise $192,000 per year for the county's tourism promotion efforts, more then doubling the current tourism budget. Only two folks spoke at the last piublic hearing on the issue: Maureen Wacha, the owner of a motel in Walton, said, “The motels are an easy target for taxation," and that the tax, "is grossly unfair and discriminatory.” Leland Ploutz, the owner of a motel in Hamden, said the tax was, “unnecessary and a wrong way of going.” Read the full story in The Waterdshed Post.
