Albany legislators don't like to be called bums

Jan 08, 2016 12:03 am
Matthew Hamilton, Chris Bragg and Casey Seiler report in The Albany Times-Union that in Albany, legislators are back at work, and they do not like the perception that they are all corrupt. In the past year, leaders from both parties, of the Assembly and State Senate, have been indicted on corruption charges, as have a number of other legislators in recent years. Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb said this week, "I don't know about you, but I don't like to be referred to as a bum." Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan said, "We should not apologize for the good work we have done." Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie said, "The Assembly is serious about ethics reform and we know that words are not enough." Read the full story in The Albany Times-Union.
