ICC preparing to reopen in the fall

Emilia Teasdale is reporting for The Columbia Paper the Ichabod Crane School District is taking the first steps toward formulating a plan to reopen this fall. The district asked parents and guardians to complete an online planning survey for the 2020-21 school year by July 9. According to a statement posted to the district website, over the coming weeks, newly appointed Superintendent Suzanne Guntlow, "...will be collaborating and communicating with all district stakeholders — parents and caregivers, staff, teachers, administrators, board members and health and safety officials — to create a safe and effective learning environment for...students to return to this fall.” Guntlow assumed the role of superintendent on July 1. Her online communique to the school community says the district is anticipating guidance on reopening from the governor's office, the state Department of Health and the state Education Department. "In anticipation of these decisions, we are in the process of creating a School Reopening Task Force and five sub-committees...Academics, Health and Safety, Operations and Athletics, Social-Emotional Wellness and Communications.” Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
