Athens starts work on comprehensive plan

Sarah Trafton is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media Athens village officials have announced the formation of a citizens committee to review the village's 13-year-old comprehensive plan. The steering committee will advise and guide officials as they update the plan. “The comprehensive plan is a vision for the future, with long-range goals and objectives for all activities that affect the community,” Village Mayor Stephan Bradicich said. committee members were selected based on recommendations from the community, but there are still openings for anyone interested in serving. Village Trustee Joshua Lipsman estimated that when the panel is complete, the steering committee may have as many as 15 to 20 members. The village received a $9,900 matching grant from the Hudson River Valley Greenway to support the development of the plan. The steering committee will hold its first meeting this week.
