The Hudson Area Library hosts a children’s concert of Krik Krak: Animal Tales from the Philippines, Haiti and ‘Round Here. This program of songs and storytelling for children of all ages will be presented by the innovative Duo 1717. Comprised of Indian-Filipino-American pianist Veena K. Kulkarni-Rankin and Haitian baritone Jean Bernard Cerin, Duo 1717 synthesizes a broad cultural heritage with western classical training, telling stories and performing music from around the globe. This program features art and folk music about animals from the United States, the Philippines, and Haiti alongside two original musical adaptations of the Haitian and Filipino folktales “Tezen” and “Allah’s Favorite Butterfly.”
