Gibson to retire as Siena College president
WNYT-TV is reporting that Siena College President Chris Gibson has announced his retirement. The former Congressperson said on September 6, that he will step down at the end of the 2022-23 academic year. Gibson was appointed Siena president in 2020, after serving three two-year terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. Before being elected to Congress, he served for 29 years in the U.S. Army. Gibson said in a statement, “...I am focused on leading Siena to provide a first-rate college experience, both in and beyond the classroom, and advancing and resourcing our strategic plan as we prepare our students to serve as leaders, inspired by Saint Francis of Assisi, to help make the world become more just, peaceful, and humane.” Siena Board Chair Thomas Baldwin praised Gibson for his work, saying the college has flourished under his leadership.
