Senate, Assembly vote to lower tanning booth age
Jun 13, 2018 11:23 am
The Associated Press reports in The Daily Freeman that the New York State Senate passed a law stopping anyone under the age of 18 from using indoor tanning booths on June 12. The bill only changes the current law by two years, as 16-year-olds are currently prohibited from using tanning booths. Lawmakers cite dangerous ultraviolet radiation that can increase the risk of skin cancer as the reason for the law. The American Cancer Society supports the measure.
