Mid-Hudson News reports that Kingston police have added patrols, and stops, as they combat a rise in in violent crimes and gunfire. Mayor Steve Noble released detailed statistics of their increased activity, and State Police have assigned a Community Outreach Coordinator to provide more information about law enforcement efforts in Kingston, as some citizens have complained about the increased street presence. “We are trying to balance the proactive patrols with those concerns,” said Mayor Noble. “Some community members have expressed anxiety about being stopped by police. Officers are aware of the anxiety that a person may experience when they see the patrol car lights or hear the siren behind them.
