Improvements at North/South Lake unveiled

Anthony Fiducia is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media improvements at the North/South Lake campground in Hunter were officially revealed, Wed., Aug. 16. The upgrades, which are part of the state's Adventure NY program, include a new boathouse and accessible canoe and kayak launch at South Lake, new tile in the campground bath houses, the installation of energy efficient LED fixtures throughout and a restored ticket booth. Nearly 400 tons of sand was brought into South Lake and a new volleyball court was added, as well. “Accessibility is an important focus,” said DEC Regional Director Keith Goertz. “It’s fully accessible for people with disabilities,” The DEC plans more bathroom and pavilion upgrades and a new accessible pathway from the North Lake parking lot to the pavilion in the coming months.
