4-H announces award winners

Bill Williams has posted at the WCTW-FM website the announcement released by the 4-H Club Program of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia and Greene Counties identifying the winners of its Outstanding 4-H Member awards for 2018. The recipients this year are Vidar Pirrone of East Chatham, Isa Leifer of Livingston, Jack Hilliard of Hillsdale, and Lily Hepperle of Cairo. 4-H participants learn leadership, citizenship and life skills through hands-on projects focused the program areas of science and technology; healthy living; and citizenship. The annual outstanding member award is given to members at least 16 years old and is based on various criteria including the quality and variety of the member's project work, their involvement in county and community service activities, and the completion of project records. The award is sponsored by the Columbia County Agricultural Society and the Fortnightly Club of Catskill. 4-H is the only youth development program in the state directly connected to the technological advances and latest research at Cornell University.
