Copake planners keep public comment period open on Craryville gas station

Amanda Purcell reports for Columbia-Greene Media that the Copake Planning Board voted Sept. 5 to extend the public comment period on the proposed Craryville gas station. The public can submit comments at least through the next planning board meeting Oct. 3. GRJH wants to put a gas station and convenience store on a 1.7-acre parcel at the intersection of Route 7 and Route 23. Copake Planning Board Chairman Bob Haight said at the September meeting that, “After two years, I think we should close the public hearing.” Board members Marcia Becker and Steve Saverese agreed, while members Jon Urban, Ed Sawchuck, and Julie Cohen voted to keep the public comment period open.
