State prepares Greene County interstate exits for no toll booths
Mar 08, 2020 11:21 pm
John Cropley reports in the Daily Gazette that the Greene County exits on the New York State Thruway had gantry structures installed Feb. 25-26, so that toll booths can be eliminated later this year. The $355 million project will tear down all toll booths along the Thurway. Instead, cameras will scan car license plates and drivers will be sent a bill through the mail or charged on their E-Z Pass accounts. “Our primary goal is to improve mobility and reduce travel times for customers,” said Eric Christensen, deputy director of operations for the New York Thruway Authority. There will be a 20 mph speed limit when the gantries are operational, instead of cars stopping to pay tolls.Read more about this story in the Daily Gazette.
