Airing between the Jewish holidays Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, this edition of Overlooked will focus on Jewish-ish music, with an emphasis on the ‘ish.’ Instead of playing straight Jewish music such as Klezmer, Zionist folk or cantorial tunes (that’ll be another show), host Rob Saffer will focus on the ‘ishy’ fringes of music inspired by Jewish modes, melodies, prayers and rhythms. Our cantors and rebbes will be artists from Billie Holliday to John Zorn, Marc Ribot to Roberto Rodriguez.
