Ashbery to receive Humanities Medal

[caption id="" align="alignright" width="200" caption="From Wikipedia."][/caption]The Jacket Copy blog of the Los Angeles Times is reporting that Hudson resident John Ashbery is one of eight recipients of the 2011 National Humanities Medal. Ashbery was chosen "for his contributions to American letters." In a statement released Fri., Feb. 10, the White House said Ashbery, "...has changed how we read poetry and has influenced generations of poets." The National Humanities Medals, and the National Medal of Arts will be presented by President Obama at the White House, Mon. Feb. 13. The ceremony begins at 1:45 p.m., and can be viewed live online.
