State Senate candidate Jordan investing in television ads

Sep 28, 2018 7:00 am
David Lombardo is reporting for Capitol Confidential Halfmoon Republican Daphne Jordan, a andidate in the 43rd state Senate District race, has invested at least $30,000 in a 30-second advertisement that began airing on September 22 in the Capital Region. Jordan is running against Democrat Aaron Gladd to replace retiring Sen. Kathy Marchione. Jordan has served as Marchione's legislative director since 2013. “Albany gives us a lot of ‘can’t,'” Jordan says in the ad. “Can’t control spending, can’t stop raising taxes, can’t end the corruption.” She describes herself as a proud mom who built two businesses from scratch and never used the word ‘can’t’ to accomplish anything. Jordan goes on to describe her objectives, if elected: make the tax cap permanent, help job creators, and get state government to focus on upstate issues, "not just New York City’s." Based on filings from Time Warner Cable and channel 6, the campaign has committed to a minimum of more than $31,000 for advertisements through September 30, Lombardo reports.
