The broadcast will feature new music from Cantaloupe Music, the recording label created by Bang on a Can founders and composers Michael Gordon, David Lang and Julia Wolfe. Plus a tribute to the 250th birthday of Ludwig van Beethoven, as well as a short holiday treat. Host Rob Saffer will play newly recorded music composed by Michael Gordon, David Lang, Meara O’Reilly, Meredith Monk, and Kaki King, and pay tribute to LVB with recordings by California Guitar Trio, Avi Avital, Michael Gordon, Christian Loffler, and of course, the master himself, Ludwig van Beethoven.
After the local news at noon, “Overlooked” is a show focusing on overlooked and under-heard jazz, improvisational, and other fringe music, from early roots to contemporary experiments, a mix of familiar to rare, classic to weird.
Host Rob Saffer is the former Executive Director and Producer of the Creative Music Foundation.
